Martin Hochleitner, Dr. phil, 1993-2000 Kurator der Galerie im Stifterhaus in Linz, seit 2000 Leiter der Landesgalerie Linz, seit 1997 Lehrbeauftragter und seit 2008 Universitätsprofessor für Kunstgeschichte an der Kunstuniversität Linz, 2007/08 Gastprofessur für Fototheorie an der Universität für Angewandte Kunst in Wien.

Born in Salzburg. Studied classical archaeology and art history in Salzburg. 1993 to 2000 departmental head for visual arts, photo/film and new media at the Upper Austrian Institute for Support for the Arts as well as curator of the Galerie im Stifterhaus in Linz . Since 1997 he has been lecturer in art history at the University of the Arts in Linz. Since 2000 he has been director of the Landesgalerie Linz. From 2002 to 2004 he was a member of the advisory council on photography in the Federal Chancellery. Since 2005 he has been lecturer at the Institute for the Science of Arts and Philosophy at the Private Catholic University of Theology in Linz. During 2007/08 he was visiting professor of photographic theory at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. In 2008 he serves as university professor for art history at the University for Art and Industrial Design in Linz. Since 2009 he has been director of the Kunstsammlung Art Collection of the State of Upper Austria.
