Moritz Neumüller

Moritz Neumüller (Linz, Austria, 1972) has graduated from the
University of Vienna in Art History and from the Vienna University of
Economics in Commerce. He has worked for the Department of Photography
at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and supervised several
international book and exhibition projects on photography and video
art. Mr. Neumüller has directed various activities of PHotoEspaña, the
Spanish Festival of Photography and Visual Arts, in the editions of
2004-2007, and the International Video Festival&Fair LOOP Barcelona,
in its edition of 2008. His teaching experience includes seminars at
the University of Vienna, Intituto Europeo Di Design and IDEP (both in
Barcelona), as well as numerous workshops and conferences on art
history, documentary practise and photography.
Among Neumüller’s publications are his interdisciplinary dissertation
Hypertext Semiotics in the Commercialized Internet (2001); the book El
Otro Lado Del Alma on syncretisms in contemporary Cuban photography,
Edition Oehrli, Zurich (2005); the interview-book Bernd & Hilla Becher
speak with Moritz Neumüller, published by Fundación Telefónica, Madrid
(2005); the catalogue All Inclusive. New Spanish Photography, for the
Lodz Photography Festival, Poland (2007), the book Metropolis,
Editorial Laboral, Barcelona (2008); and the catalogue TO HAVE & TO
LOSE. Three projects by Mireia Sallarès, for Galleri Image, Aarhus,
Denmark (2008)
Since 2009, Moritz Neumüller is directing the Exhibition Department of
The Private Space, Barcelona.
"I am interested in seeing contemporary work made by young or emerging
photographers and video makers from around the world, especially
documentary, social and conceptual work. I am less interested in
traditional nudes or still-lives, commercial work, life-style and
fashion."
