Künstlerischer Leiter, Encontros da Imagem und Museumsdirektor des Museu da Imagem in Braga, Portugal
Rui Prata (*1955) erhielt 1979 an der Universität in Porto seinen Master in Geschichte. In den Jahren 2002 und 2003 machte er eine Zusatzausbildung als Fine Arts Director am ESAP, der Escola Superior Artistica do Porto, und erhielt 2008 den Doktorgrad in Kuratorischer und Zeitgenössischer Museologie von der Universität der Bildenden Künste in Porto. Rui Prata begann seine berufliche Laufbahn als Professor für Geschichte und ist derzeit der künstlerische Leiter des Encontros da Imagem, an dem er seit der Umsetzung seines ersten Projekts im Jahr 1987 tätig ist.
Während seiner Zeit als Dozent hat er zahlreiche pädagogische Aufgaben wahrgenommen und verschiedene Seminare geleitet. Seit seiner Eröffnung im Jahre 1999, ist er Direktor des Braga Museum Image.
Prata ist Kurator mehrerer internationaler Ausstellungen und Mitglied zahlreicher Jurys und Kuratorenkomitees. Er arbeitet auf verschiedensten internationalen Festivals – wie etwa dem Mois de la Photo de Paris et Montreal, Photo Espanha, Primavera Fotografica, Fotobienal de Bienne, Curitiba's Festival, Fotonoviembre de Tenerife, Recontres d'Arles – an der Bewertung von Portfolios mit..

Education
1979 he gets is master in History at Porto University
2002-2003 post-graduated Fine Arts Direction at ESAP, Escola Superior Artistica do Porto.
2008 finished a Master in Curatorial & Contemporary Museology at Porto Fine Arts University.

Professional career
Rui Prata began his professional career as a History professor and is currently the Director of Braga Museum Image since its opening in 1999.
Director of Encontros da Imagem Festival (Image Meetings), in which he has participated since its first edition in 1987.
During his teacher career he as done several pedagogical actions and he had participated in several seminars.
In his photographic career he has done some lectures in Europe and in Brazil, basically around contemporary themes.
Curator for some national and international exhibitions.
